Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic fatigue syndrome can have long term effects, and effect such organs as the heart. Symptoms or signs of the cardiovascular system include palpitations, heart arrhythmias, angina due to spasms of the coronary arteries, high blood pressure and mitral valve prolapse. Be aware that not all of the symptoms need to be present to presume magnesium deficiency; but, many of them often occur together. For example, people with mitral valve prolapse frequently have palpitations, anxiety, panic attacks and premenstrual symptoms.

Chronic fatigue syndrome require more from the food we eat to overcome physical and environmental challenges. Food processing removes magnesium. Broiling, steaming and boiling remove magnesium into the water or drippings. High carbohydrate and high fat diets increase the need for magnesium as does physical and mental stress. Diuretic medications and insulin further deplete total body magnesium. As we age magnesium uptake may be impaired. Dieting reduces intake of already low levels of magnesium intake. Magnesium has been consistently depleted in our soils. It has been further depleted in plants by the use of potassium and phosphorus laden fertilizers which alter the plant's ability to uptake magnesium. Water from deep wells supplies additional magnesium not found in food, but surface water, our common source of supply, lacks magnesium.

Overwhelming stress and destressed immunity have seen an increase in chronic fatigue syndrome. High blood preasure, diabetes, and a host of ailments are outpacing solutions. Blocked arteries are a concern among everyone especially aging baby boomers. High blood magnesium cuts your odds of dying from common "ischemic" heart disease (blocked or narrowed arteries) by one third, say researchers at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. In other research, magnesium shortages lower good HDL cholesterol and accelerate hardening of the arteries.
